Placelift is a family run design, build and renovation company based in Wicklow. Working with our own team of highly skilled tradespeople and carefully chosen partners, we are a full service provider from design, to construction, to fit-out.
Placelift is a building company with a difference; we focus on our works as well as providing a superb customer experience. Unlike other building contractors, we don’t juggle more than one project at a time. We dedicate and focus our full attention on one project and see if through to completion. On every project, we have an on-site manager and also a co-ordinating project manager - acting as your one point of contact for the duration of the project.
We are a husband and wife team, who have brought the skills and experience from our careers together with our passion to form our own end to end home renovation company. We realise the importance of working as part of a strong, reliable team when undertaking a project. We believe that by working closely with our customer through all the stages of the project, that our customer becomes the most important member of our team. With this approach, we can clearly understand our customers vision and work as a team to produce a refurbishment to be proud of!
Since established in 2013, Placelift has become a leading full service provider of high-quality building and renovation services throughout South County Dublin and East County Wicklow.
As Placelift only take on one project at a time and due to the size of our renovation team, every project is required to be of a certain scale. Typically, we work with private residential clients with a proposed budget in the region of €50K - €350K.
Our Story
In 2011, Clodagh Doyle and her husband were responsible for the selling of a property. As the months rolled past with very little interest or viewings, Clodagh felt a more pro-active approach was necessary. “It was obvious that if we wanted to achieve the best possible price for the property and quickly, that we would have to go that extra mile and give this property the competitive edge”.
“We decided that if we were to show this property in its best light, we needed to focus on what improvements would greatly enhance it.” “Carrying out a full survey inside and out, we compiled a scope of works (a detailed list of the recommended improvements). We were fortunate in that we Ivan and I, had the necessary skills and experience to take care of the entire project seamlessly from start to finish without any hassle or stress - in fact we enjoyed doing it”.
“With my passion and creative flair for all aspects of interior design and Ivan’s years of building and construction experience, we set about revamping this property. After all the major repairs, upgrades, painting and decorating were completed, I set about styling the property while Ivan concentrated on the exterior kerb appeal and landscaped the garden. When our estate agent revisited, he was so impressed that he immediately arranged new marketing photographs. We promptly organised an open viewing, from which a viewer made an immediate offer. The property sold quickly and for the most we could possible of achieved at that time (during the recession). We had no doubt that our focused effort on maximising the potential of this property contributed to this speedy sale”.
It was through this experience that Clodagh got the core idea for Placelift. A construction company that could seamlessly project manage and execute full home renovations and remodelling with design in mind from the outset from start to finish, however, with a focus on creating a stress-free customer experience. With Ivan's vast experience in the construction industry and our shared passion for renovations, we had the perfect blend of skills to bring Placelift to fruition. By combining our careers experience with our strong passion, we created something special - our own family run renovation business .
Clodagh has always been aware of the stigma and often lack of respect that can be associated with tradespeople and builders in general. This negativity stems from a minority of unrealiable builders, over time performing sub-standard work, which understandably results in customers feeling a lack of trust, stressed, apprehensive and frustrated when it comes to renovating. Clodagh is well aware that there are many hard-working, skilled, trusted and honest people involved in the construction industry that provide high value and skilled services to our local communities and like other professions, they should be appreciated and respected.
Clodagh realised that the main cause of stress during a renovation is due to the actual renovation process being very much fragmented and not being site and project managed effectively. The lack of effective communiciation and coordination of all those involved on site, can simply result in chaos on site. If the homeowner is trying to manage this themselves and do not have a clear understanding of the overall renovation process it can cause untold stress and impact on thier budget and timelines.
On researching other countries, mainly in the US, Australia and the UK, Clodagh realised that there were established reputable construction companies offering a customer focused end-to-end approach that simply made life easier for the customer when renovating.
